Amici's East Coast Pizzeria

Since it was the day after Christmas (and a Sunday to boot), most of the restaurants on Castro St had closed up early. Needing a place for a reunion with friends, Amici's became our destination for the evening.

We decided to go sick and order a large Milano pizza and family-sized fettuccine Alfredo. The Milano pizza reminded me of the awesome stuff that Basic serves up in SD, but not quite as good. The fettuccine itself was extremely well cooked and the sauce was great because it wasn't too thick nor too creamy. Unfortunately the portion sizes aren't that huge for the money and our hungry group of 5 ordered another large pizza, this time with half pesto and half spicy pepper chicken. Their pesto is really tasty here and the chicken was pretty good too. The crust itself could have used a little more seasoning and crispness, but that might just be a personal preference.

Overall the food was pretty good. I've had better thin crust pizzas at a better value, but in a pinch, Amici's came through. They got a large patio that's very pet-friendly so it's a good place to stop for a quick salad or pizza on a warm evening walk. A solid 3.5 stars in my book, it's a pretty good option for a non-hole-in-the-wall pizza joint with premium toppings. Just be prepared to pay a premium price for it.
