The Drum has been a popular San Rafael gathering place since it was opened. If you're looking, you can always find old friends and schoolmates hanging out and enjoying a pint of the local brew or snacking on some of their famous loaded nachos.
I decided to go with the Black and Blue burger and prepared, well, black and blue. I was assured that the meat was of high enough quality to be consumed rare and it turned out quite tasty. I wish that they had put a bit more bleu cheese on the burger, but it was otherwise not too bad. I had it with a side of sweet potato fries but was not told that there would be an additional charge. The fries came out burnt which was very disappointing but otherwise the meal was pretty good.
Though I haven't been back in years and the price has shot up since then, the Broken Drum is still a hip place to hangout with friends over a beer. Join your buddies on the patio while enjoying a beer, and bring your best [furry] friends to hang out too. This place is totally pet-friendly! I just hope that the rare meat of my burger doesn't give me food poisoning. So far, so good!
