Seeking a hip new spot to discuss the launching of a hot new startup, I had to look toward one of the more progressive parts of town. I'm always open to try new restauranta so my friend suggested that we meet at Cafe 976 in Pacific Beach. Just off the main drag through town and only blocks from the beach, this cozy, but bustling, cafe offers free WiFi and dog-friendly outdoor seating that provided the perfect backdrop to discuss business.
The menu offerings truly runs the gamut, and there is likely something to appease the tastes of all. My selection of the day was the spinach burger, an unusual but healthy alternative to the humdrum hamburger I had been gorging on the past few days. Served with a fresh green salad with feta and balsamic vinaigrette, the homemade spinach patty was served between lovely slices of fantastic focaccia. This leafy green pair is probably the healthiest meal that I've had in ages, and it's all homemade!
My only complaint about this beach town bistro is that, when you sit outside, a flight of flies attempt attacks on your food. Swatting them away over my meal isn't exactly my idea of fun but I'm not sure if there is really anything the café can do about them. It's only a minor complaint and I definitely recommend giving Café 976 a try. I would definitely go back more often if not for the notoriously never-ending PB traffic. However, if you're in the area and have your dog with you, it's worth checking out!
