Chick-fil-A was just erected in Mira Mesa and the community has gone wild for the stuff. Just prior to opening, there was at least 100 people waiting in line outside so that they could be one of the lucky few that won free Chick-fil-A for a year. I wasn't willing to wait for the couple days and nights required, but decided that it was finally time to walk in and see what all the fuss was about.
I decided to try the spicy Chick-fil-A (with pepper jack) meal with waffle fries and a cookies and cream shake (with whipped cream and a cherry of course) and my pal got a regular Chick-fil-A sandwich with Provolone. Unfortunately they put American cheese on her sandwich instead of the Provolone, but it didn't really matter, because they sandwiches tasted great. The star was definitely the chicken itself, and this was highlighted by the somewhat wimpy buns they were served on. They don't offer self-served drinks for some reason and I'm not sure if they offer refills.
As fast food goes, Chick-fil-A served some pretty high quality stuff. The chicken breasts were whole breasts instead of the liquidized patty things that some places serve, and the service was top notch. The price is definitely on the high end for fast food so if I had to choose, I'd probably still go for something like In-N-Out (sometimes you just want beef!) but Chick-fil-A was definitely impressive and now I wished that I had actually waited in line to get it free for a year. The place is really clean and there's even tables outside to sit at if you wanted to bring your dog with you. Trust me, the quality here isn't the same dog food you'll find at most fast food joints and I bet your buddy would love a bit of your Chick-fil-A!
