I'm not really an eggs benedict or hollandaise person. However, since that's what Depot Garden Cafe is known for, and they have one with avocado on it (one of my fave foods of all time), I decided to go for it. And it was honest to goodness the BEST benedict I've ever had. Smooth, lemony hollandaise. Perfectly poached runny eggs. Healthy topping portions. Toasty english muffin. And a huge side of chunky hash browns. The benedicts are only served on weekends but they have tons of other classic breakfast items that are available throughout the week.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, despite the oddly industrial-sounding name. There is a huge brick patio in the garden behind the restaurant that is spacious enough for a number of large dogs. Patio umbrellas offer some shade. The interior has a sunny country cottage feel. Service is kind and attentive. They have a lot of regulars that they know by name -- always a good sign.
There's nothing better on a Sunday than brunch in Marin! My girlfriend and I needed some time out of the city and decided to grab some eggs and potatoes at Depot Garden. I admit their name threw me for a loop, but they're known for their Eggs Benedict which we both decided to try.
I went with the bay shrimp Benedict with avocado served with their delicious hash browns. There was a ton of shrimp on my eggs and the Hollandaise sauce had nice sour notes. Their hash browns were delicious and it's clear why they're famous for them. Prices are decent for the food an area and I would definitely come back to try their crab Benedict.
Service was kind and they've got a beautiful dog-friendly patio out back. Bring your pooch for a great Sunday brunch and you won't be disappointed with your Benedict!
