I don't get why Fantasia is always busy. Their pearl milk tea is alright. This time it was just lukewarm and kinda bland. I think they used to be better back when I was in high school and all the high school kids and Taiwanese people would hang out there and smoke like chimneys on the patio...because it was the *only* place in Cupertino that stayed open past 9 besides the Donut Wheel. These days there are a few more places in town open later so the patio isn't as crowded as it once was, which is great for people who want to bring their pets and/or breathe. I came here again on a weekend afternoon and there was a huge line out the door, while the other boba places in Cupertino Village were nearly empty. They must still be doing something right.
My friend and I wanted a bit of dessert after a nice sushi meal, and there were many choices in the center. However, given our poor experience at Yogurtland last time, and the horrible reviews of Verde, we decided to drive a bit to Fantasia instead.
I ordered an almond milk tea with pearls (a distinctly Norcal name for Socal's boba) and a slice of garlic butter thick toast. The tea was pretty good but the pearls were way too chewy and over-saturated. The toast wasn't cut very thick at all and I was left wanting for quite a but more.
The service here was flighty but kind. She initially forgot my pearls and then forgot my toast. Fantasia is busy at all hours so I can understand how it could happen, but twice to the same customer is way too much. Overall, pretty disappointed with the food and drinks in the area.
