Honeymoon Cafe

What an appropriate name for such a cute and friendly cafe. They have all the quirks and charm you need for a sleepy beach town eatery - local artwork, creative clutter, mismatched furniture and plates; fresh, healthy, affordable food. The best parts were the extremely nice and helpful service, and the enormous pet-friendly patio which I'm sure is packed on sunny weekend mornings (alas, it rained during our stop in SLO). You do order at the counter, and then they bring the food to your seat. My veggie scramble was just OK; I imagine it would be better if I got the burrito version. Still, definitely reasonable for the price.

After a beautiful hike out to Avila Beach, my friend and I cruised out to Pismo Beach for some brunch grub at Honeymoon Cafe. A quaint cafe with a very pet-friendly patio, their menu featured some tasty options. I was ready for just about anything with eggs.

I opted for the pastrami hash with sunny side up eggs and my friend got the veggie scramble. The pastrami was delish and I loved the flavor of the runny yolk in the hash. The homemade jam was awesome on the toast as well. The veggie scramble was very fresh but left something to be desired. It was tasty, but could have used a little something extra to kick it up a notch.

The food was pretty good but the service was excellent and very friendly. The dog-friendly tables were a bit wet from the morning rain but otherwise would make a great place to enjoy brunch with your dog. Walk on by if you're in the area!
