After a long day of hanging out at The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, we had worked up an appetite of mammoth proportions. I called up my buddy in Alta Dena and we decided to grab some grub out in Old Town Pasadena. We decided that it was a great sushi night and stepped into Kabuki, a posh place right in the middle of it all. Being the overly generous guy he is, he annoyed me by insisting to take care of the bill. My buddy is a very classy guy!
Insisting that we go sick, we ordered up a bunch of different things to try, including some tuna, salmon, albacore, egg, sea urchin, a spider roll, spicy tuna roll, a crunchy roll, seaweed salad, and more. The fish quality was excellent and the fish slices were huge. The rolls were a little difficult to eat due to their arrangement and also the thin slices, but it all went down the same way...deliciously.
Food in LA has always been better than that found in San Diego, and this is another example of that situation. However, with the quality comes the price, and you simply can't find the same value in former. The restaurants in LA are also swankier than those found in SD and Kabuki had a huge, beautiful patio where your dog can dine with you and has plenty of room to move around. It was a very fun and flavorful experience that I definitely wish to repeat, but I'm going to make sure he allows me to pay next time.
