After a long night of boozing, I tend to crave a bite to eat. Fortunately, Mateo's Hot Spot was just around the corner to satiate my hunger pains. Located in front of some of Pacific Beach's most divey bars this wiener stand attracts some of the town's most toasted patrons.

Of the extensive menu, I decided to order the El Grunge, a polish with bacon and cream cheese. I've never tried my hot dogs with cream cheese before but much to my surprise it was pretty tasty! You wouldn't think that it would add much, or maybe even make the hot dog too heavy, but cream cheese has such a mild flavor that it seems like it would go with just about everything.

Needless to say, I am now a convert and in the future I'll hold the kraut and opt for the cream cheese. If you're in PB and need a great after drinking treat, march over to Mateo's and grab a cream cheese polish! Feel free to bring your dogs while enjoying your dog cause it's all outdoor seating...err...standing room only!
