Yum! The flavors are spectacular. Their menu focuses on vegetarian and chicken Indian/Pakistani dishes. It would be easy to be a vegetarian if I could eat Pakwan everyday. Loved their mixed vegetable curry - it had tons of flavor and was loaded with potato, peas, carrots, tomato and cauliflower (which I usually don't like, but in this case was delish). The only downer was the naan...nothing really special there.
Like most casual Indian places around here, prices are low and service is non-existant. Be prepared to order/pick up at the counter, seat yourself, and grab your own water/plates/silverware.
There are two unusually large round tables out front, perfect for family-style meals of up to 4 and/or a pooch. From what I've seen people are pretty easygoing about having dogs around, and don't mind if they duck in with you for a bit if you need to grab some table settings.
After a fun Elite event in the Mission, as well as some excellent shopping at Idol Vintage next door, our little group needed some dinner to power back up so we sauntered into the crowded Pakwan for some Indian/Pakistani grub. I was in a good mood after a great blazer buy and wanted to treat my pals to a great meal.
We ordered chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and the vegetable curry, as well as rice and naan. My favorites were definitely the chicken tikka and paneer, but the naan kind of disappoints. It's not chewy at all, and was mostly dried out and burned. The rice was good however.
Prices are great and the whole meal came out to just over $28. We could have easily fed a fourth person too. Service was kind of slow but that might have had something to do with the large table next to us. However, it definitely wasn't that friendly especially if you try to give them a credit card. Cash only! At least they've got some tables outside so your dog can join you for dinner. They've got to stay outside the whole time so I'd recommend bringing a few friends to make sure nobody runs off with your dog!
