What a pretty park! I love that there's this bit of nature in my corner of San Francisco (Sunset) when all the orderly, treeless streets start to look the same, and I'm too lazy to drive to Golden Gate Park.
There is a paved path around the lake, surrounded by trees and leafy hillsides. (And plenty of ducks for your dog to chase!) Technically dogs should be leashed until they reach the off-leash meadow play area, but no one really bothers to abide by that rule. Except for the one cranky old lady who yelled at us... but generally people are pretty chill.
In addition to the humongous play meadow there are some sitting/picnic areas. It feels almost remote since all you see is trees, grass and water. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be on misty mornings.
My sister's dog 'Doggie' (that's her real name) was being a good girl for being cooped up at home all day so I decided to take her out for a nice walk through the park. The closest one was Pine Lake and there was a large off-leash area so we made a beeline for fun!
It's located in the center of the park, near 30th Ave, and was unfenced as far as I could tell. The big dogs seemed to get along with the small dogs and all of the owners were chatty and friendly. Doggie is more of a people dog and doesn't really play well with others so she spent most of the time hiding under me. I'll be taking her back for future trips so hopefully I can slowly socialize her a bit better so she can join in the fun!
