My sister’s family and I wanted to get dinner before I had to run off to the Peninsula for a meeting. They’d been wanting to try Pizzetta 211 for the longest time and we lucked out on parking and walked right in. If it wasn’t for the cute, dog-friendly tables outside, we never would have even noticed that they were open.

Prices for entrees typically ranged between $10-15 for a tiny portion. I decided to try their calzone, my sister the margherita, and my brother in law, pepperoni and basil. The food itself was delicious and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. However, after we finished up, we were all still hungry and could have easily downed a whole other pizza.

For a place with such a high price point, I’m surprised that they only accept cash. Sure, it’s a small shop and all, but it seems pretty popular and I bet they turn a lot of people away as a result of the cash thing. I expected a whole lot more for our money and certainly didn’t feel like I got great value, leaving a less than thrilled taste in my mouth. For that kind of money, I’d much prefer Basic pizza. There’s a little bit of an elitist, hipster air here as well, but if you want just a taste of good pizza, give Pizzetta a try.
