My buddy insisted that I try the panini with the Sopressata, Fontina cheese, broccoli rabe, and pesto, all grilled on comfort bread. We also tried the frangipane croissant as well. Let me say that both were absolutely spectacular! I have now officially tasted awesome, and it goes by the name of Tartine. The flavors were all extremely distinct and it was grilled together to perfection. Even the pickled carrots that came with the sandwich were sensational. That croissant, it was just, wow. It was so good I even took one home with me to San Diego! Honestly, it's difficult to pick a favorite because the quality and flavors here are so amazing. If I lived in the area, I'd probably come here every day.
The vibe here is great and they occasionally have live music playing as well. The food isn't the cheapest around but considering the quality and flavors, it's great value. There are a couple tables outside where you can enjoy a pastry and a glass of wine with your dog, and everybody seems to have the same idea. There's usually a line here and it takes a little while to whip up the sandwich, but it's absolutely worth it. This is now officially my favorite bakery in all of San Francisco, and perhaps beyond.
