This was probably the kookiest Cinco de Mayo event I've ever been to. In one afternoon, we have: Chihuahua adoptions. Food trucks. Mariachi band. Uncharacteristically gorgeous weather. Uncharacteristically dressed up dogs on a catwalk. Slightly crazy pet people (but aren't we all?). A missing Wonder Woman dog. A chihuahua with Paris Hilton in her bag. And the list rollicks on... Lesson: Chihuahuas throw a mean party. Just another reason to adopt one.
A super fun day all around and there was some great costumes, both home-made and store bought. I can't imagine that the winner actually made their Frida Kahlo costume, but they took home some amazing prize package. The mariachi band was amazing and entertained a crowd of thousands of people too!
The Off the Grid folks were awesome and served up some great eats too. Sadly, the Toasty Melts crew ran out of the good stuff so shut down shop a bit early and luckily there were 2 other trucks to pick up the pieces. It was insanely busy throughout the park and there was a little bit of outside belligerence from some drunken locals. Other than that, it was a spectacular event and hopefully a ton of chihuahuas were adopted on site! We all need great homes and chihuahuas are no exception. If you missed out, go visit the SPCA and adopt today!
