Toasties

As a MUNI rider that passes through West Portal, I've always seen Toasties on the corner taunting me with their "Best crab melt in SF" banner. Always seeking the best of everything, I decided to give it a try.

We ordered the crab melt and a sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder. Both were fantastic! The crab melt features lots of real crab meat and I savored every bite. It's not a huge sandwich but it hits the spot. I was really impressed with the freshness of their soup and bread, and the clam chowder was more of less made to order. I'm used to the stuff they ladle out of crockpots but seeing the care they put into their soup was refreshing.

Toasties is an awesome little hole-in-the-wall with a great location. I would definitely order both dishes again and can't wait to come back! I'll bring Doggie next time since they have some pleasant tables outside and the weather is getting really nice. Hopefully the train noise isn't too bad.
