I was meeting up with my entrepreneur buddy from Socal and some of his friends for dinner at Burmese Superstar. We waited for half and hour before being told our table would take another 45 minutes at least so we said forget it and went across the street to China First. We sat down and realized that it was actually colder in the restaurant than it was outside and everybody was bundled up. Again we said screw it and went back across the street and saw Troya, a unique Turkish restaurant. We were so thankful that it was warm when we walked in and were immediately sold.

They started us off with some bread with condiments of olive oil, a spice mix, and crushed pistachio nuts. The oil and nut combo was definitely my favorite. We ordered the lamb dolmas and borek as appetizers and both were excellent. The borek was really nice and flaky and topped with a dash of the sauce was heavenly.

The moussakka, beef turlu, and chicken beyti were the entrees and I really enjoyed the creamy moussakka and the chicken beyti had a nice bite to it. The turlu was a little bland though.

We chose baklava and kunefe for dessert. The baklava was really delicious and had the perfect amount of sweetness. The kunefe was alright and was sort of like a cake. I was expecting a little more sweetness but it was extremely subtle by my tasting.

The service and ambiance here is excellent and I was so glad that we came here. The portion sizes aren't huge but prices are fair. They've got 2 dog-friendly tables outside where you can dine with your pooch but in this unseasonably cold weather, you should probably wait till the summer to utilize them. This is definitely a great restaurant and the meal was very enjoyable, especially with a fascinating group of co-diners.
